How to prevent respiratory tract infections?

1.      Wash your hands

Most of the germs causing Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs) are transmitted through the air, and are transferred to our body through physical contact from our hands with our eyes, nose or mouth. Wash your hand regularly to prevent yourself from catching some foreign pathogens!

2.      Sleep at least 7 hours a night regularly

Through sleeping, your body rests. However, your immune system is quite active! It produces cytokines which help in fighting pathogens entering your body. Furthermore, other parts of your immune system such as infection-fighting antibodies are also reduced when you suffer from sleep deprivation! Take good care if yourself and sleep sufficiently.

3.      Eat a diet rich of vitamins and minerals

To maintain a good and healthy immune system, it is important to eat enough of the vital proteins, vitamins and minerals. For instance, Iron is important for proper cell functioning. Vitamin A helps protection against infections by keeping epithelial cells healthy, and vitamin C stimulates the formation of antibodies. Taking proper care of yourself thus assists you in proper functioning of the immune system!

4.      Exercise regularly

Physical activity has tremendous positive effects on your health and your immune system. The system is highly responsive to physical activity; cytokine levels increase, immune systems respond more rapidly and preserves the functional immune cells inside your body. In short, exercising boosts your immune system

5.      Take Defensikan® Imunoglukan®
